From Faro airport the road leads down to join the main EN125 highway. Cross over the flyover and join the highway heading north away from the city of Faro.

Go past the turn off for Almancil, which was the old route along the Algarve and continue to the intersection with the IP1 motorway. The road west is signposted to Lisbon and portimao. Miss the turn off and you head towards Loule, it is wise to turn around and come back to join the IP1.

Stay with the motorway as far as it goes ignoring the signs to Lisbon. The motorway is being extended and one day will reach all the way to Lagos. For now when the motorway finishes follow the signs to Portimao.

As you cross the magnificent bridge Portimao and Praia da rocha appear down river. Stay with the main road past the turn off for Portimao and continue to Lagos.

At Lagos follow the signs for Sagres. If by mistake you find yourself on the Avenida just continue along the side of the river and then follow the road around the edge of the town.

At the second set of traffic lights, just a mile from the edge of Lagos turn left signposted to Praia da Luz. The village is approx one and a half miles from the turn off.

From here stay on the road, through the cobbled street and village square of Praia da Luz towards Burgau.

Beyond Praia da Luz and the development which edges the road and coast the way comes into open countryside. Burgau lies just a couple of miles from Praia da Luz.

As the village is approached the hotel is unmistakeable for the sign on its roof. The driveway turns off to the left before the first street of the village and leads to the hotel car parks and gardens.
