The maps are not to scale and reproduction across the net means that they may be dimensionally distorted. They should be seen as a guide to localities rather than a precise representation. On the Algarve it is quite hard to get lost. There is one main road, The EN 125 which runs the length of the Algarve. There is a motorway from the Spanish border to just north of Albufeira (the IP1). It will extend to Portimao in the near future. Remember the sun and the sea are to the south. the land rises and becomes barren to the north. Finally.. do not rely on directions given by people, they hate to say they do not know and will guess rather than seem unhelpfull.
